Dungeon Break הוא משחק פעולה מרשים בו המיניסים מורדים נגד הלורדים, מנסים לצאת מהצינוק, תוך עקיפת מלכודות שהוצבו בעבר.
משרתים שקטים, ללא עוררין בעקבות הוראותיהם המוזרות של הלורדים, מבינים שהם בכלל לא מוערכים. המוטיבציה להמשיך להתקיים באותה מתכונת נעלמת והמחלקות שואפות לצאת מהצינוק לחופש. הם מוכנים להתעמת עם הרשויות ואף להילחם למען הזכות לשנות את התסריט. השחקן שולט באחד המשרתים הללו, עוזר למיניון במאבק נגד חוסר צדק. המשימה העיקרית היא להפגיז את הלורדים ואת עוזריהם.
האתר גלוי למשתמש מלמעלה, יש בו דרכים ומזלגות רבים. הדמות הולכת לעלילה מרובעת ומשמידת באופן מתומם את המתנגדים שמופיעים לפתע מכל עבר. אנשים גדולים ועוצמתיים נעזרים בבעלי חיים קטנים: הם צריכים לבזבז עליהם חלק מסוים של אנרגיה. המעבר לכיכר הבאה אפשרי רק לאחר ניקוי האתר הנוכחי. באזורים מסוימים מרוצים חזה, שדרוגים פונקציונליים וכלי נשק יעילים יותר. יהיה זמן לבחור בשקט את השיפור הרצוי, ואז להמשיך לחקור את הצינוק, שיוביל בהכרח למפגש עם אויבים חדשים.
